The slicer gives you material and print time, not the full economics of an order. PrintQuote adds printer depreciation, maintenance, preparation, finishing, packaging, failed attempts and payment fees. It compares two options for the same number of delivered parts. Example inputs are illustrative, not recommended prices, machine specifications or local tariffs.
Three steps to an explainable quote
- Enter the total number of good parts needed and the material/time for a full build plate.
- Set your costs in scenario A, copy them to B and change one assumption at a time.
- Compare the itemised cost, expected machine hours and quote. Export both the result and inputs.
Use your own slicer results, electricity measurements, accounting estimates and payment-provider terms. This tool does not predict demand or determine what a buyer will pay. A lower calculated quote is not evidence of equal quality, strength, delivery reliability or profitability.
Questions before you quote
Does this upload my files or prices?
No. The calculator runs in your browser and does not accept STL or G-code. JSON imports are read locally. Saving is optional. A share link deliberately contains your inputs, so share it only with intended recipients.
How does it account for failed prints?
The failure percentage applies to a whole build plate. Expected attempts equal successful plates divided by one minus the failure fraction. Each failed attempt consumes the full plate material and print time; handling time is added separately. This is an expectation across repetitions, not a guarantee for a single order.
Is the price per part exact?
The total order quote is rounded up to the currency minor unit. The displayed per-part price is that total divided by delivered quantity, rounded for display. Do not multiply a rounded per-part display to recreate an invoice; use the order total.
What if the final plate is only partly filled?
The model charges full-plate material and time. Spare capacity is displayed, but extra parts get no revenue credit. To model a partial final plate exactly, calculate it as a separate order and allocate setup costs only once.
Does it include taxes, shipping or design time?
Taxes are not calculated. Add shipping or hardware to other order costs and design/admin time to order setup if required. Do not include the same item twice. All monetary inputs must use a consistent before-tax basis; fee bases may differ in your jurisdiction.

Is this a market price recommendation?
No. It is the price implied by your chosen costs, fee model and target margin or markup. Validate demand, product quality, licensing rights and all unentered business costs separately.
